Job Description:

Usual Responsibilities of a Medical ICU Nurse:
- Assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
- Monitoring and recording patient condition and vital signs.
- Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Collaborating with a team of healthcare professionals, including physicians and therapists.
- Educating patients and their families on managing illnesses or injuries.
- Ensuring all medical equipment functions properly.
- Responding to life-saving situations, using nursing standards and protocols for treatment.
- Providing emotional support and compassionate care to patients and their families.
- Maintaining patient records and ensuring confidentiality.
Specific Duties:
- Accountable for clinical knowledge to positively affect patient outcomes.
- Demonstrates strong clinical judgment and nursing skills.
- Collaborates timely with the healthcare team.
- Promotes comfort and prevents suffering.
- Collaborates with patients, families, and the healthcare team for effective care planning.

Qualifications:

Education: Diploma or Associates Degree in nursing. BSN or current enrollment in a BSN program preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Current RN license in Virginia or multi-state compact RN license. BLS certification required.
Additional Information:
- 29-Bed Medical ICU with nurse-to-patient ratios based on acuity.
- Patients include ventilated tracheostomy and neurologic patients.

Work Schedule:

Shift: Days & Nights (7-7)
Experience: Will cross-train. Minimum of 1 year hospital experience, preferably in Med Surg.

Special Note:

Accepting candidates for the ICU training program starting 9/18. Requires a minimum of 6 months RN experience. This is a 10-week paid accelerated program with a $15,000 sign-on bonus (3-year commitment). There are 12 available positions.
