Texas Nursing Services in McKinney, TX is looking for RNs - MedSurg to join our team. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, punctual, and reliable.

The RN - Registered Nurse – Med/Surg – Medical Surgical provides direct nursing care to Medical Surgical patient(s) and their families in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the medical and surgical services.

 

Job Summary/Responsibilities

The Medical Surgical RN provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization. The tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Assesses plans and evaluates patient care needs.
  • Carries out physician orders.
  • Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, monitors vital signs.
  • Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
  • Instructs and educates patients and families.
  • Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • Provides age and culturally appropriate care.
  • Orients and mentors new staff members.
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

 

**This is for a permanent position - SHIFT: Full-time Day & Night shifts needed (rotating weekends)**

**Compensation/Salary range is based on years of experience – sign-on bonuses and relocation assistance offered**

Qualifications/Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
  • Current license by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas as a Registered Nurse or from a Compact State if you declare the Compact State your Primary State of Residence.
  • Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider required.
  • At least 1 year of RN experience within an acute hospital setting required.
  • Willing to speak with candidates that have Acute Med-Surg Experience within the past 3 years.
  • Strong communication skills in both oral and written format.  Flexibility to intervene on a moment’s notice.  Ability to problem-solve and seek assistance from team members when necessary.
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be flexible and service oriented.
