Position: School Nurse
Location: Corpus Christi, TX 78401
Schedule: Full-Time, Hourly, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (with a 30-minute lunch break), Monday-Friday, following the School Calendar (please see attached); Attendance may be required for meetings and/or events that occur outside of regular school hours and on weekends.

Job Summary
As a School Nurse, you will be at the heart of our mission, providing essential health services and support. Your role includes assessing student health needs, managing acute and chronic health issues, coordinating immunization programs, and championing the overall well-being of our students. Additionally, you'll maintain precise records, offer counseling to students and parents, and ensure strict compliance with health regulations and guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Holds an Associate, Diploma, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Licensing: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Texas.
- Skills: You maintain a high level of integrity, professionalism, responsibility, accountability, and confidentiality. You also display a loving, nurturing, and compassionate nature for children in grades Pre-Primary (2 years old) through 8th grade. Excellent communication and organization skills are your strengths. You are consistently in attendance and punctual, capable of working independently with minimal supervision in a small office setting, and have knowledge of basic computer software.
Key Responsibilities
- Advocate passionately for student health and well-being, aligning with our school's mission and values.
- Skillfully assess and manage acute, chronic, and emergency health concerns, ensuring appropriate referrals and follow-up care.
- Lead immunization programs and oversee infectious disease control.
- Organize health screenings as mandated by state regulations and facilitate essential follow-up care.
- Maintain meticulous health records and assist with administrative tasks.
- Provide compassionate counseling and guidance to students and parents on health maintenance.
- Collaborate effectively with school staff to maintain a safe and healthy environment for our students.
Additional Responsibilities
- You file immunization records and notify when files need updating.
- Receive and file health information forms, inputting them into FACTS SIS.
- Complete immunization reports when received from the State of Texas.
- Attend to scholar injuries and illnesses as they arise, including administering medication.
- Administer well checks for scholars showing signs of illness.
- Receive, document, and administer prescription medication.
- Provide access to inhalers as needed.
- Document medication administration.
- Conduct checks for lice as needed.
- Maintain clinic supplies and place requests for supplies to be ordered.
- Maintain AED machines throughout the campus.
- Supervise scholars during injuries and illnesses that require separation from the classroom.
- Contact parents regarding scholars’ illnesses and the need to go home.
- Promote health-related habits.
- Conduct vision screenings and report school-wide.
- Conduct scoliosis screenings and report for Middle School (5th-8th grade).
- Develop and conduct hygiene presentation programs for Middle School (5th-8th grade).
