Overview
A high-volume 44-bed Emergency Department in the Panama City area is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager of Emergency Services to lead evening operations, support clinical excellence, and drive departmental workflow.
The ED treats 140–180 patients daily and serves as a primary access point for both adult and pediatric emergencies. This role oversees ~55.8 FTEs and works closely with the Director of Emergency Services to support a safe, efficient, and engaged care environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the delivery of emergency nursing care during the evening shift.
Provide direct supervision, coaching, conflict resolution, and performance management for ED staff.
Support departmental and hospital committee work, ensuring active participation in system initiatives.
Collaborate with senior leadership on staff scheduling to ensure consistent coverage.
Ensure adherence to policies, competency requirements, and patient safety standards.
Lead onboarding, precepting, and integration of new employees.
Maintain up-to-date competency in emergency nursing practice, equipment, and clinical workflows.
Ensure appropriate maintenance and readiness of emergency equipment; validate temperature logs and quality control checks.
Assist with clinical procedures as needed.
Utilize performance data and metrics to identify improvement opportunities and support throughput initiatives.
Partner with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient flow and continuity of care.
Qualifications
Required
3–5 years of recent ED leadership experience in an acute care hospital.
Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma; must be actively enrolled in a BSN program.
Active Florida RN license or Compact license.
BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
Preferred
Strong communication, team-building, and conflict resolution skills.
Leadership experience in high-volume emergency departments.
