Overview
A full-service acute care hospital in the Fort Pierce region is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join its respiratory care team. This role supports adult and pediatric patients across high-acuity environments, including emergency care, critical care, surgical services, cardiology, and general inpatient units. Therapists in this setting play a key role in airway management, ventilation support, and diagnostic respiratory procedures.
Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and ventilation parameters.
Conduct diagnostic respiratory tests and evaluate patient responses to therapy.
Administer oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, chest physiotherapy, and other respiratory treatments.
Assist with artificial airway placement and provide ongoing airway management support.
Initiate, monitor, and adjust invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.
Document all treatments, assessments, and clinical changes accurately and in a timely manner.
Respond to emergency situations, ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation.
Safely transport ventilator-dependent patients within the hospital.
Qualifications
Required
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT/RCP) credential and state licensure.
Associate Degree in Respiratory Care or related field.
BLS certification (within 30 days of hire).
ACLS certification (within 30 days of hire).
Preferred
Experience in an acute-care respiratory department.
