Director of Emergency Services – Austin, TX

  • Employment Type: Full-Time, Days (No Weekends)
  • Compensation: $130,000 – $170,000 annually (based on experience)
  • Bonus Incentive: 17.5%–26.25% annual performance bonus
  • Relocation Assistance: $15,000 lump sum + household moving allowance (up to $10,000 for homeowners)
  • Schedule: Full-Time, Permanent

Overview

This is a high-impact hospital leadership opportunity for an experienced emergency services professional ready to direct operations across a large, high-volume Emergency Department and multiple freestanding emergency centers. The Director of Emergency Services will oversee strategic and clinical operations, ensure quality patient outcomes, and foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration within a rapidly growing healthcare organization.

The role offers an exceptional chance to lead a team serving a diverse community while advancing into a system preparing for major expansion and future Level I Trauma designation.


Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership for all Emergency Department and freestanding emergency center operations.

  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care through effective resource allocation, process optimization, and continuous quality improvement.

  • Oversee clinical standards, staffing, and patient throughput to meet or exceed regulatory and accreditation benchmarks.

  • Develop and implement policies and evidence-based practices that elevate patient safety, satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

  • Lead interdisciplinary collaboration among nursing, physician, and ancillary teams to improve outcomes and patient flow.

  • Analyze performance metrics, manage budgets, and drive cost-effective care strategies.

  • Serve as a visible leader, fostering staff engagement, development, and accountability.

  • Support strategic initiatives related to facility expansion, trauma readiness, and service line growth.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

  • Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or Compact state

  • Minimum 3 years of Director-level Emergency Department leadership experience in an acute care hospital setting

  • Proven ability to manage large teams (100+ FTEs) and multiple emergency service locations

  • Demonstrated success in quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and staff engagement initiatives

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field

  • Experience leading multi-site emergency operations or trauma programs

  • Familiarity with Meditech or similar hospital EMR systems
