Job Title: Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical/Telemetry

Location: Chesapeake, VA 23320

Shift: 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:30)

Start Date: ASAP

Job Duration: 13-week Renewable Contract

Salary: $1,836-$2,142/week

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit in Chesapeake, VA. As a member of our dedicated team, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with medical and telemetry needs. This is a 13-week renewable contract position for day shifts, offering an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the delivery of exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing care plan.
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry readings to detect any cardiac abnormalities and take appropriate action.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians and monitor their effects on patients.
  • Perform IV starts and manage IV therapy as needed.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate and implement patient care plans.
  • Educate patients and their families on disease management, treatment options, and self-care techniques.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient information, nursing interventions, and outcomes.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe patient care environment.

Requirements:

  • Valid Registered Nurse license in Virginia or Compact state.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Medical Surgical/Telemetry setting.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required through the American Heart Association.
  • Proficiency in using EPIC electronic health record system.
  • Strong skills in IV starts, telemetry interpretation, and experience with neurology/stroke patients.
  • Ability to work autonomously and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Previous travel experience is preferred.
  • Current COVID-19 vaccination as per facility guidelines.
