This is a 13 week contract position that requires at least one year of Stepdown Neuro experience.
A Stepdown Neuro registered nurse (also known as a Neuro-Stepdown RN) is a registered nurse who provides nursing care to patients who have been admitted to a specialized stepdown unit following a neurological procedure or surgery. This type of nursing care typically takes place in a stepdown unit of a hospital or healthcare facility, and may involve working closely with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, therapists, and specialists, to provide comprehensive care to patients. Some specific responsibilities of a Stepdown Neuro registered nurse might include:
- Assessing patients' neurological and medical status and identifying any changes or concerns
- Monitoring patients' vital signs and other medical data, such as blood pressure and heart rate
- Administering medication and treatments as prescribed by a doctor
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients
- Educating patients and their families about their neurological condition and treatment plan, and providing emotional support as needed
- Documenting patients' medical history and progress, and maintaining accurate and complete records
- Maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients, and ensuring that medical equipment is properly sterilized and maintained
To qualify for this position, one would typically need to:
- Hold a current and valid registered nurse (RN) license
- Have completed a nursing program and passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX)
- Have a minimum of 1-2 years of experience working as an RN in a hospital or clinical setting
- Have specialized training and experience in neurological nursing
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team
- Be able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize patient care in a fast-paced hospital environment.
