Overview

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Manager for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Asheville, NC. This 40-bed intermediate care unit provides high-acuity patient care in a Magnet®-designated, Level II trauma center environment. As Nurse Manager, you will oversee daily operations, guide nursing staff, and ensure quality outcomes. This role is ideal for leaders who value collaboration, patient-centered care, and evidence-based practice in a fast-paced, innovative health system.


Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and support clinical staff to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care.

  • Manage unit operations including staffing, resource allocation, and budgeting.

  • Collaborate with hospital leadership on strategic initiatives and process improvements.

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop nursing staff, fostering an environment of professional growth.

  • Ensure compliance with nursing standards, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies.

  • Integrate evidence-based practice and quality improvement into unit operations.


Qualifications

Required

  • Active RN license in North Carolina (or Compact license eligible).

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher (ADN/BA with MSN accepted).

  • BLS Healthcare Provider certification.

  • Minimum of 5 years recent nursing experience, including 2 years in a relevant acute care setting.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Nursing or related field.

  • Previous leadership experience in progressive care or similar units.

  • National certification in leadership or clinical specialty (must be obtained within 1 year if not held at hire).
