Overview
An established surgical services department in Fort Walton Beach, Florida is seeking an experienced PACU Nurse Manager (RN) to oversee daily operations in a 16-bed post-anesthesia care unit at a Level II Trauma Center.
This role combines clinical expertise with strong leadership and offers the opportunity to guide a skilled team that cares for approximately 30 patients per day following surgical or interventional procedures.
The ideal candidate is a motivated and approachable nurse leader with a collaborative mindset, exceptional organizational skills, and a commitment to quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all aspects of post-anesthesia care, including staffing, scheduling, and patient throughput.
Ensure evidence-based recovery practices and adherence to perioperative standards.
Supervise PACU nursing staff and charge nurses, fostering a culture of communication and accountability.
Collaborate closely with anesthesia, surgery, and perioperative teams to optimize recovery processes.
Participate in capital planning and resource management for equipment and supplies.
Monitor clinical performance metrics, identify trends, and implement improvement initiatives.
Maintain readiness for accreditation and regulatory inspections.
Support staff education, orientation, and professional development.
Qualifications
Required:
Active RN license (Florida or Compact State)
Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
Minimum 3 years of recent PACU or perioperative nursing leadership experience
BLS within 30 days and ACLS within 90 days of hire
Preferred:
CNML or CPAN/CAPA certification
Experience managing medium to large PACU or perioperative recovery teams
Strong interpersonal and decision-making skills
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Rate: $45.50 – $53.80/hour (commensurate with experience)
