Job Title: Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical/Telemetry

Location: Chesapeake, VA 23320

Shift: 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)

Start Date: ASAP

Job Duration: 13-week renewable contract

Salary: $2,268-$2,646/week

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse with experience in Medical Surgical/Telemetry to join our dedicated team in Chesapeake, VA. Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care, including comprehensive assessment, monitoring, and administering medications.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry readings, recognizing and responding to any abnormalities or changes in patient condition.
  • Perform IV starts and manage intravenous therapy as required.
  • Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families.
  • Float to other units within the hospital as needed, maintaining flexibility in the assignment.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and ensure patient safety.

Requirements:

  • Valid and active Registered Nurse license in the state of Virginia (Compact or VA license).
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications via the American Heart Association.
  • NIHSS certification.
  • Proficiency in using EPIC electronic medical record system.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience working with neurology/stroke patients in a Medical Surgical/Telemetry setting.
  • Experience with telemetry interpretation and ability to respond to changes in patient condition.
  • Travel nursing experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work weekdays, every other weekend, and holidays as required.
  • COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory as per facility guidelines, with medical or religious exemptions considered.
