Shift: 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00)

Job Duration: 13-Week Renewable Contract

Salary: $2,052-$2,394/week

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Step-Down unit in Huntington, WV. As a Step-Down Nurse, you will provide specialized care to patients who are stable but require close monitoring and have a higher risk of becoming unstable. This is a night shift position with a schedule of 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:00), and there is flexibility to work flex shifts as well (nights and days will not be scheduled in the same week).

Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients in the Step-Down unit.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs, symptoms, and changes in condition closely, identifying any signs of deterioration or improvement.
  • Administer medications, including critical drips such as Amiodarone, Esmolol, Insulin, Lasix, Cardizem, and Nitroglycerin.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Monitor and manage patient pain levels and provide appropriate pain management interventions.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team, providing education and emotional support.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, handling a mixture of pulmonary, cardiac, neuro, GI, and surgical patients.
  • Accept patients who do not require invasive monitoring and provide care based on their specific needs.

Requirements:

  • Valid Registered Nurse license in the state of West Virginia.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a step-down or similar acute care setting.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications required.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Flexibility to work night shifts and occasional flex shifts (nights and days will not be scheduled in the same week).
  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on facility guidelines (Medical/Religious Exemptions Only).

This position is a 13-week renewable contract, with the possibility of extension based on performance and the needs of the unit. Blocked scheduling is an option, providing you with a better work-life balance.
